  • ABSTRACT: Foreign direct investments (FDI) are the most important tool, through which economic players carry out the capital flows movement from North to South and from West to East. Basic bearers of these flows are the transnational corporations of the so called Strategic Triad – the USA, the European Union and Japan. They are exporters and at the same time recipients of capital flows. We should not also forget the role in attracting FDI played by the countries from BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China), which brought their economies to a rapid economic growth. The main purpose of this paper is to study some problems related to attracting FDI in the countries from Central and Eastern Europe in the period of transition to market economy and in terms of full membership in the European Union. The focus of our study are Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, which are undoubted leaders in attracting FDI, and also the two countries from the new wave of accession - Romania and Bulgaria. An attempt has been made to analyze the problems that foreign investors face in the first group of countries, as well as to highlight some problems of investment environment in Bulgaria - the positive and negative effects over the recent years. On the basis of this study, the trends of development of FDI in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe under the impact of globalization and the financial crisis have been outlined.

OPTIMIZATION OF THE PARAMETERS OF DISK-SHAPED PIEZOELECTRIC TRANSFORMERS

  • ABSTRACT: This paper presents a study of the impact of the width b and displacement l of the linear isolation gap between the electrodes of disk-shaped piezoelectric transformers on their characteristics and the maximum voltage gain GVm in accordance with an optimal composed design of the experiment. The effect of the load resistance Rt on piezoelectric transformer parameters has also been studied. A regression model of full second degree has been derived for the maximum voltage gain of disk-shaped piezoelectric transformers with linear isolation gap. On the basis of this model, employing a genetic algorithm, optimal values of parameters b and l of the isolation gap have been obtained in order to reach the maximum value of GVm of disk-shaped piezoelectric transformers. The maximum voltage gain of the optimal sample obtained by experiment is in good agreement with the theoretically determined maximum value of this parameter.

  • ABSTRACT: Most of the authors analyzing speech use the wavelet method for feature extraction and Dynamic Time Warping for comparing two time series in their classifiers. The usage of DTW generates significant difficulties obtaining pattern as an average of series. We introduce an alternative approach without analysis of the cepstral coefficients. The present paper summarizes new methods for recognition of speech. A new finite element signal processing method is demonstrated. The present speech recognition techniques essentially reduce the total computational work, which is very important in the case of a real time application. Successful real life examples are presented. The tests strongly support the considered theory.

  • ABSTRACT: The goal of this paper is to show capabilities of MPEG4 encoder based on Hisilicon 3507 chip. Input live video feed is encoded and streamed into local area network. Two optical media convertors are included to extend maximum streaming distance. Different configurations are tested and results are shown. Practical applications are suggested.
