  • ABSTRACT: Storages or transmission tanks as a pressure vessel are important engineering equipments and appear in various areas. The main goal of this study is to propose a simple method to solve, with minimum effort and acceptable reasonable accuracy, the problem of designing a storage vessel subjected to uniform internal pressure by using a commercial program. For this purpose the COMPRESS program, which is preferred for obtaining quick results in the design of this type of tank, has been introduced in detailed, and the design makes use of this program and also meets the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Rules for Construction of Pressure Vessels Division 1 standards. Then the use of stainless steel and carbon steel which is preferred in general in the construction of tanks for full and spot radiographic control was performed. For this purpose a storage tank has been designed for 10atm of internal pressure and a temperature of 120oC and capacity of 1500 lt.

HYDROFORMING ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURAL STEEL PLATES

  • TITLE: HYDROFORMING ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURAL STEEL PLATES
  • AUTHOR(S): S. O. ERUSLU, I. S. DALMIS
  • ABSTRACT: In this study hydroforming analysis of low carbon cold formed structural steel sheets (St12, SAE 1006) are studied experimentally and numerically. The effects of hydrostatic pressure, plate thickness, mould curvatures were investigated. The failure zones, stress and deformations were compared with finite element model. It was found that the metal elongation and strength, plate thickness, mould design were effective tools for hydforming performance of sheet metals. The Bilinear isotropic hardening nonlinear material modelling with shell elements are used in Ansys 16.0 Lsdyna explicit module. The effects of element size on stress results and thinning of sheet metals at plastically deformed place are also discussed in model. The results are found in good agreement with the results of experimental works.

PERFORMANCES OF ABRASIVE WATER JET CUTTING WITH HYPER PRESSURE OF 900 MPA

  • TITLE: PERFORMANCES OF ABRASIVE WATER JET CUTTING WITH HYPER PRESSURE OF 900 MPA
  • AUTHOR(S): M. Radovanović
  • ABSTRACT: Abrasive water jet cutting machines operating at hyper pressure were introduced based on the notion that increased pressure means faster cutting. Applying hyper pressure results to faster cutting, lower abrasive consumption, higher productivity and smaller operating cost. Ultra-high pressure of 350 to 400 MPa is currently standard. However, a clear increase in performances and productivity and decrease in cost of abrasive water jet cutting can be achieved with hyper pressure. Performances of abrasive water jet cutting when applying hyper pressures of 900 MPa is analyzed in this paper.

MULTI OBJECTIVE OPTIMIZATION OF PROCESS PARAMETERS FOR SINGLE PASS CNC TURNING

  • TITLE: MULTI OBJECTIVE OPTIMIZATION OF PROCESS PARAMETERS FOR SINGLE PASS CNC TURNING
  • AUTHOR(S): M. Radovanović
  • ABSTRACT: Manufacture low cost and high quality machine parts and products in a short time is the most important goal of the production in metalworking industry. In machining, multi objective optimization is a real problem. For solving this problem modern optimization methods are used. In this paper is presented a multi objective optimization of single-pass turning of carbon steel AISI 1045 with coated carbide tool using multi objective genetic algorithm (MOGA).

DESIGN AND CONTROL OF PLASTIC BOTTLE BREAKING AND STORAGE MACHINE

  • TITLE: DESIGN AND CONTROL OF PLASTIC BOTTLE BREAKING AND STORAGE MACHINE
  • AUTHOR(S): S. ERSOY, E. AYGUL, E. TOPTAŞ
  • ABSTRACT: In this study we present a pet bottle shredder machine and mechatronic system used in machine. Plastic shredder is a machine used for cutting the plastic bottles in small pieces to make waste management easier. We are making this project for recycling of plastic bottle wastage in domestic area, industries etc. In this areas the plastic bottle waste is present in large quantity, but the availed machines used to recycle this waste, is not exist. Benefit of this machine is the recycle of the plastic bottles. In this machine, plastic bottles are detected with the pet sensor (Omron E3Z-B61-ECON (0.5M)) and shredded with shredder. This machine is controlled by Arduino Mega. The objects taken in the system are directed by Arduino. As a result of the separation process, the pet bottles sent to the crusher are divided into smaller pieces by means of an asynchronous motor and a crusher driven by an asynchronous motor. The result is a more efficient use of storage space. In this regard, the first steps of the recycling process, namely separation and crushing, will be done more effectively using the automation system than the conventional methods.
